This lovely poncho was skillfully worked by the artisans from Arte Nativo of Potosí (the mining department of Bolivia). It is named for the two communities and river that cross this Altiplano region (Quetena River, Quetena Grande and Quetena Chico).
The garment is woven on a loom with llama fiber that was handspun and has no chemical treatment. That means the colors are completely natural and therefore long lasting.
The stairstep design is quite typical of the region.
This is a garment that was created to help you withstand the lowest temperatures. Remember that Potosí is one of the departments with the lowest temperatures in Bolivia and it is at 4,191 m altitude.
