The quena is a flute originated in the Andean region of South America (Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile), it is known that the quena was formerly used to calm the shepherds in their working days and nights. In the beginning this instrument was conceived to be only accompanied by percussion instruments, nevertheless thanks to the musical evolution and its improvement, any musical instrument can accompany melodies from the quena; melody that by the way is sweet, harmonious and delicate.
The quenas can measure from 9.8 to 15.7 in. (25 cm. to 40 cm.) and from 0.3 to 1.2 in. (1 cm. to 3 cm.) of diameter.
To maintain your Quena, coat it with olive oil.
